Calling all photogs!

To all those talented, creative individuals who have photographed minx over the years:

I’m looking for good pix of me in all my minxiness for a layout for Eros-zine. So if you have pretty pix of the minx that you’d like to share (with photo credit, of course!), can you contact me to find a way to sift through the photos together (access to your online gallery would be GREAT), choose a few favorites, and then have you ghost your pro logo at the bottom so I could send the files to the publisher?

Or, alternatively, if you just have some favorite shots, send them to me with your logo and permissions. THANK YOU!!

New podcasting setup!

::bounce bounce:: I’m so excited!

Just saw that my 100 square feet of 2 1/2″ audio foam is supposed to arrive today. True, I won’t be home for the delivery, but maybe tomorrow… ?

And I’m getting the Blue’s Snowball microphone in Madison this weekend. In a matter of days, will actually have a podcasting STUDIO! (aka my walk-in closet).

Now I just need a microphone stand and to do a bit of demo on the current shelves and clothing bar, and PW will sound AWESOME!!

14:55-20:15 Topic: How did you come to be poly?

  • Veronica wrote in about her history coming from a family of swingers and eventually identifying as poly herself. Polyamory For Me – Part #1
    01-19-06

    So I’ve been listening to the Polyamory Weekly Podcast, which I’ve actually been enjoying quite a bit. The only annoying part is that I’m listening to about 2 to 3 episodes a day to try to catch up on the months I’ve missed.

    There are so many issues it is bringing up for me, not issues really, just thoughts. I have so much I want to say and share on the subject… but there is just so much. I think eventually I am going to need to write a personal sexual history which includes polyamory in it. I had to write a sexual history my first year of college for an IRS class I was in (Intimacy, Relationships, and Sexuality). I’ve lived such a unique life – really a bit different from most folks that I know that I have had a very exclusive type of situation with my sexual/emotional development. In some ways, this will actually serve as the first part of this history.

    To give you a teaser let me start out by saying that I am actually the 2nd generation of open relationships in my family. My parents are in an open relationship. My mom and bio-dad got divorced when I was 5 and my mom and step-day started seeing each other when I was 7. They are still together and I am almost 30 now. They have an open relationship and identify as swingers as opposed to polyamorous like me. The big difference between the two is that for them a BIG core rule to their lifestyle is that they are “romantically monogamous, but physically free.” That is completely the opposite from polyamorous folks… we WANT to be romantically involved with ALL of our relationships, but back to the story.

    My mom and step dad actually MET at a swingers club, we lived close to Chicago and these types of events/clubs existed there. The entire time they have been together they have been swingers. I only found out about them when at 16 I asked about the events they would go to and about some of their “friends”. They “came out” to me at that point. I should mention also that they were both very liberal and accepting. They felt I was adult enough to be told – especially since I pretty much figured it out on my own. When they came out to me, one of the first things they said is “this lifestyle is NO better than any other and it is NOT for everyone.” They made sure I understood that what was important was the communication and honesty between the couple, not just who was between their legs! We also talked about STD’s and risks – they both got tested at least once a year for STD’s and used condoms. One of the funniest moments after I knew about them was at our annual 4th of July BBQ. This was always a big event with us and there was friends, family, and co-workers present. Well that year, my parents pointed out who their swinger friends were. I was amazed because – guess what – they looked like average normal people. All ages, sizes, different colors, some with kids. It was then that I learned that my parents overall were closeted – at that time most of the family and their work friends did not know about their open relationship.

  • ScubaDude and his wife, a virgin at marriage, spent 10 years of marriage sharing fantasies before trying polyamorous threesomes. He reports that the sharing has enriched their relationship for years.

Oh, Penthouse FORUM ::facepalm::

OK, I’m a dork. Did anyone besides me NOT realize that Penthouse and Penthouse Forum were two different magazines??

Despite how stupid I feel, my mistake gave me an excuse to drag into a newsstand on Michigan Avenue tonight after dinner and politely ask the attendant, “Do you have the latest edition of Penthouse Forum?” to which the gritty reply, laden with a thick Chicago accent, was, “Yeah. It’s with da PORNO.”

No February edition yet, BUT I did receive my xerox copy of the article from the journalist in the mail today and OH MY GOD!!! Polyamory Weekly got two whole paragraphs on the third page! And so did Rope Weekly! Woo hoo!

Excerpt from the bit on Polyamory Weekly:

A woman who goes by the scene name Minx started Polyamory Weekly (graydancer.libsyn.com) in March of last year, inspired by her lover, Graydancer… “It’s a space where polyamorous and monogamous folks alike can write or call in and sound off about everything from sexual labels like gay, straight, bi, and my own creation, the ‘boobiesexual’–women who are mostly straight but who are really, really into women’s breasts–to religion and spirituality and being able to deal with jealousy.”

And from the bit on Rope Weekly:

As the man behind Rope Weekly, (www.graydancer.com/ropeweekly), he doesn’t just talk about bondage, he does it on the air. “I once had Minx give a review of Twisted Monk’s hemp rope while giving me head. She talks surprisingly clearly when her mouth is full,” says Graydancer.”

OK, how much do we ROCK right now? :-D

DON’T BUY PORN!

I’m more than a little disappointed. After the Penthouse Forum writer contact all her interviewees, including yours truly, to let us know that the artlce on adult podcasting would be in the February edition of Penthouse, I walked at something more than the pace of a leisurely stroll to the closest (and, it turns out, the best) newsstand. (It carries Skin Two as well!)

The February issue came out today. In fact, at 5:00 today, the magazines were still in the boxes, and the nice counter guy had to go open up the box to extract a copy for me. And in a nice little complimentary episode, he mistook me for the girl on the cover. :-)

So I pull off the plastic right there at the register and leaf straight to the Forum pages… nothing. I frown and scan the table of contents. Technology? No luck. I stuff the magazine into its plain brown bag and head to my car, where I can leaf through the entire magazine in privacy. Nothing. Once home, I page through it again, this time pausing to appreciate a magnificent ass or two, but still with no luck.

Nope. No article on adult podcasting. So… DON’T BUY PORN! Um… unless of course you like porn, in which case… go right ahead. :-)

The new podcast page and RSS feed

OK, the new LibSyn hosting site for Polyamory Weekly is set up at PolyWeekly.libsyn.com, and the new RSS feed is Polyweekly.libsyn.com/rss. For the next few weeks, I’ll continue to post at both locations to make sure that no one loses the feed. Wouldn’t want to lose a listener! :-)

Unfortunately, I don’t believe I can move the first 39 episodes to this site, so those archives will remain at graydancer.libsyn.com. And I’m not sure how to change the RSS in the iTunes directory, along with all the other directories I’ve posted in, so that will take longer.

In the meantime, if you use iTunes, just click on the “Advanced” tab in the tool bar and click “Subscribe to podcast” on the drop-down menu, then plug in the new RSS (http://polyweekly.libsyn.com/rss) to get all the new episodes in 2006!

Just ‘cuz

I’ve been messing with blog design and wanted to use a new icon. Just ‘cuz.
