OHHH, I remember my audio comment, not sure if you found it or not. But it had to do with the text chat thing.

My wife and I have the same issues that you and Steve were having.

    Heya Minx:

I’m not sure if you got my email or have been too busy to respond, but I wanted to make sure you saw this bit of “Poly in the Media.” There was a very good article in Salon this past week. You should be able to find it here: http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/2007/06/14/polyamory/

    Re: Honesty and depression…

I’ve suffered from depression in the past, and yeah, it did hurt when my husband was very honest with me. He was very nice about it, though, and explained that he would rather have me know the harsh truth than to feed me a white lie just to save my feelings. Once I got that concept into my head, hearing the truth wasn’t nearly as devistating.

Re: Having to choose a soulmate… I think if society was more open to the concept of polyamory–or at least acknowledged that it can be a realistic option–less people would be pressured to make a choice.

Even though I’m monogamous, I think teenagers and twentysomethings should not be pressured into monogamy–they should be encouraged to explore multiple relationships, so they can figure out what kind of person suits them as a partner. I’m exploring this concept in the poly-friendly novel I’m writing. 🙂

That’s it exactly–if someone is monogamous, hey, cool. But our society is wired so monogamously than many don’t realize they can have a choice. Or, if they do, they don’t know how to even THINK about it because everything in our society is geared for monogamy.

  • minx

Yup, saw it–it’s one of the things I’ve bumped a show or two to keep the show more thematic. (And shorter!)
