MTV’s True Life seeking polys

Got an email from the producer. Contact him directly if interested:

Do you have two or more consenting partners? Are you and several lovers all trying to build a life together? Is having multiple spouses, boyfriends, or girlfriends the only kind of relationship that seems to make sense to you?

If you are between the ages of 18 and 29 and would like a chance to be cast in MTV’s True Life: I’m Polyamorous, write in to polyamorous@mtvn.com with a detailed description of your love life situation, and please include your name, phone number, and a recent photo.

While I won’t be contacting them myself (clearly I’m obviously an old fart since I’m over 29 years of age) I hope someone doe and communicates about polyamory clearly and effectively.

I’ll temper this encouragement with words of warning – be very, very clearly with the producers about what angle they’re wanting to push on the program, because as particiapants you will have no control whatsoever as to how the final piece turns out. There have been TV spots done on poly before; some were excellent, while others had bait-and-swtich tactics pulled on them with the program aired being totally different from how it was pitched to begin with. I’m not a big TV viewer so I can’t quote you actual instances but I’m sure other contributers will be able to fill in the gaps.

Final peice of advice – get some (preferably poly-friendly) advice from experts in the media field and/or media training so you don’t go into this blind.
